Super RTL Picks Up ‘Peppa Pig’

German broadcaster Super RTL has scooped the rights to preschool hit “Peppa Pig.”

The latest, seventh season of the series will bow on the free-to-air channel from March 2018, and Super RTL’s licensing and merchandising unit will oversee the local licensing program.

“The show’s winning combination of humor, charm and relatable stories of everyday family life is sure to appeal to our preschool audience, and we look forward to bringing ‘Peppa Pig’ to homes across Germany next year,” said Claude Schmit, CEO at Super RTL.

The show is distributed by eOne, which bought its producer Astley Baker Davies for £140 million ($184 million) in 2015.

Independent production and distribution group eOne has combined its film and TV operations, but “Peppa Pig” sits outside of that, in its Family division.

The international deal for Germany follows an agreement with Japan’s TV Tokyo earlier this year.
