Kristin Davis: ‘It Is Deeply Frustrating’ That ‘Sex and the City 3’ Won’t Be Made

After Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed on Thursday that any hopes fans had for a third “Sex and the City” film are dashed, her co-star Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte Goldenblatt, took to Instagram to express her disappointment with the news.

“I love to look back at the pics from our LONG history of Sex and the City,” she wrote. “It is true that we are not going to be able to make a 3rd film. I wish that we could have made the final chapter, on our own terms, to complete the stories of our characters.”

I love to look back at the pics from our LONG history of Sex and the City. I am incredibly lucky to have gotten to play Charlotte through all of her ups and downs ( epitomized in one of my favorite episodes here). It is true that we are not going to be able to make a 3rd film. I wish that we could have made the final chapter, on our own terms, to complete the stories of our characters. It is deeply frustrating not to able to share that chapter (beautifully written by MPK) with all of you. So we will just have our memories, but please know that all of the love and support for us through the years is felt by us and we are so grateful for all of you!SATC forever in our hearts ❤️💗❤️💗❤️💗❤️💗

Davis added that Michael Patrick King had already written the script, which Parker had previously confirmed. “It is deeply frustrating not to able to share that chapter (beautifully written by MPK) with all of you.”

“So we will just have our memories,” she continued. “But please know that all of the love and support for us through the years is felt by us and we are so grateful for all of you! SATC forever in our hearts.”

Parker confirmed the news in an interview with Extra on Thursday. “It’s over,” she said. “I’m disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story.”

“It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie,” she added.

Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon also starred in the films and original TV series, as Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes, respectively. According to a Daily Mail report, Cattrall told Warner Bros. she would only participate in the third “Sex and the City” installment if the studio developed other projects of hers as well, which led to the demise of the film when Warner Bros. refused to meet her demands. Cattrall, however, has denied the reports.
