James Corden will return as the host of the 2018 Grammys, CBS announced at its upfront presentation in New York on Wednesday.

The host of CBS’s “Late Late Show” emceed the annual awards show for the first time earlier this year to generally positive reviews, and will return this year when the show — celebrating its 60th anniversary — returns to New York for the first time since 2003.

James Corden Tumbles and Raps His Way Through 2017 Grammys Opening

While Corden did a capable job in his premiere appearance back in February, they didn’t really make it easy for him. A song-and-dance intro saw him (intentionally) tumbling down the steps and (perhaps not as intentionally) losing a shoe; he did one bit in his boxers; and the inevitable “Carpool Karaoke” segment with Jennifer Lopez, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Keith Urban, John Legend and others saw several of the celebrities botching the lyrics to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” The segment was saved when Beyonce and Jay Z’s daughter Blue Ivy crashed the performance, in a seemingly impromptu moment.

The Grammys’ long-awaited return to New York and Madison Square Garden was announced earlier this month, but the news had been all but confirmed by the time of this year’s awards show on Feb. 12.
