Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson, meet Ariana Grande and John Legend.

After teasing the duet in a final trailer for “Beauty and the Beast” on Monday, Disney released Grande and Legend’s full track for the 2017 live-action remake’s title song a few days later.

The tune, composed by Alan Menken with lyrics from Howard Ashman, was performed by Angela Landsbury in the original 1991 film. It would go on to win best original song at the Golden Globes and Oscars. “Beauty and the Beast” also earned two Grammys and eight nominations. Dion and Bryson covered the song as a duet on the film’s soundtrack, making way for Grande and Legend’s recent iteration. In the remake, Emma Thompson will play Mrs. Potts and perform the tune once again. The updated film will also include new songs written by Menken and Tim Rice.

I really wanted to like it, but I have to agree with other commenters. Totally lacks heart. It’s a beautiful song on its own. No vocal gymnastics required.

    2. Keri says:

There was no connection or depth to them singing and if you listen to the original with Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson it is amazing, they both sing amazing and it has so much character and connection. The new one sounds like karaoke 👎

    3. Michael Starks says:

Technically it’s proficient enough but it simply has no heart. I feel no connection from either performer with this material. No soul = The problem with much of today’s entertainment.

    4. RW says:

Kinda tired of those tear jerker Whining Disney animated film songs now days. I know many will like it but not me. I don’t mean it sucks, it’s good, I just would like a little more upbeat.just my opinion. And I’ll hear it allot because I have grand girls that love to sing with the films! Just ask me about Frozen…….haha.

    5. Candice Quinn says:

      Great Song!!

    6. Jason Kaiser says:

You’re already blowing it Disney. Choosing the most pop crap mainstream to represent such a classic.
