YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Entrepreneurial celebrity chef, talk show host and prolific cookbook author Rachael Ray, nowadays pushing an eponymous line of zero-grain pet foods, put her plushly appointed compound in the Tuckahoe hamlet of staid but ever-so-swank Southampton, NY, up for sale with a $4.9 million price tag. The three-time Emmy winning Food Network superstar and her attorney/musician husband John Cusimano, who renewed their vows in Italy a couple of years ago after a spate of salacious rumors of marital strife, purchased the mostly wooded 6.2-acre spread, which comprises two parcels and shares a long border with the Southampton Golf Club, in June 2008 in two contiguous transactions that totaled $2.6 million.

The approximately 3,650-square-foot, single-story main residence, renovated by Miz Ray and chock full of sofas, tables and consoles from her own line of reasonably priced home furnishings, sits behind gates with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a couple of fireplaces and, unsurprisingly, a custom designed kitchen with chef-approved features and appliances that include a couple of beverage cooling drawers. There’s also an approximately 1,400-square-foot poolside guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a kitchen plus a separate one-bedroom/one-bathroom cottage for staff, guests or artist studio.

As was revealed by the property gossips at The Wall Street Journal, the Cusimano-Rays, who live primarily in a three-unit combination apartment in an unremarkable building just below Union Square in New York City, decamped the Hamptons for a custom-built residence secreted down a private dirt lane on more than 200 secluded and thickly wooded acres near the Upstate New York community of Lake Luzerne.
