President Trump Slams Arnold Schwarzenegger for Exiting ‘The Apprentice’: ‘He Was Fired’

President Donald Trump doesn’t want Arnold Schwarzenegger to have the last word.

After the “New Celebrity Apprentice” host said in an interview published Friday that he would “decline” to do the show again if asked, and blamed Trump for the show’s poor ratings, the president retaliated Saturday morning by saying Schwarzenegger “was fired.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t voluntarily leaving the Apprentice,” Trump tweeted, “he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show.”

Schwarzenegger tweeted back, “You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker.”

Is Trump to Blame for ‘The New Celebrity Apprentice’ Bust?

Trump hosted “The Apprentice” since its inception in 2004. Schwarzenegger took over for Season 15 due to Trump’s presidential campaign and eventual election. Still, as Variety first reported, Trump retained his executive producer credit on the show. The NBC show has not yet been picked up for another season, with or without Schwarzenegger.

On Friday, Schwarzenegger blamed the show’s poor ratings on Trump’s continued involvement. “When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it,” he said.

With Schwarzenegger as host, the show has struggled in the ratings, which Trump has dissed over Twitter and in person. In one recent instance in February, the president mocked Schwarzenegger at the National Prayer Breakfast. “I want to just pray for Arnold if we can — for those ratings,” he said.

Schwarzenegger responded in a video posted to Twitter, “Hey Donald, I have a great idea: Why don’t we switch jobs?”

Just hours before on Saturday morning, Trump had unleashed a series of tweets accusing Barack Obama of “Nixon/Watergate”-level mismanagement, including wire tapping his phones during the election. “This is McCarthyism!” he tweeted.

An Obama spokes person later released a statement that said, “… neither President Obama nor anyone any White House official ever order surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simple false.”

  1. Richard says:

Unfortunately, for Americans, many ideals and projects are ruined when Trump becomes involved. Why he was credited with “Executive Producer” is unclear. His biggest job now is ruining America. Doing a pretty good job at it too.

  2. Dunstan says:

As I’m sure others have pointed out, there is only reason (aside from his now-legendary insanity) that Drumpf would be concerned about the failure of this show: he has a financial interest in it as Executive Producer.

What a pathetic excuse for a human being.

  3. Ronald Bruno says:

    RuPaul for Prez!

  4. Ronald Bruno says:

Never seen anybody stick their foot in their mouth so many times and not even realize it. When the D isn’t able to deliver on his promises most of his supporters will jump ship anyway so keep on keeping on D.

  5. Not BillUSA says:

They’re both senile. It was the most boring edition of the show ever (I’ve seen ’em all, I’m sorry to say) and deserved the worst ratings ever. But that doesn’t mean Arnold didn’t leave voluntarily. He probably realized it’s not a job for him.

  6. Arnie Terminated himself. Let’s it, putting the house maid up on the workbench in the garage and voting for serial liar Hillary is a career killer. How about Arnie and Martha Stewart can bake?

    • Steve says:

You folks seem to be obsessed with the delusion that any celebrity who disses Trump can, should, and will be destroyed.

  7. Sct says:

    Omg these guys are hilarious.

  8. Steve Barr says:

To paraphrase a line from The Immigrant ” If you could lick Donald Trump’s heart it would taste like poison “. The same would. go for his brain. If Trump Tower was tapped it would mean that a judge felt a crime had been committed or there was collusion with a foreign power . All you Trump cockroaches out there better buckle up. Your Mango Mussolini is going down.

  9. Sct says:

Hahaha a new joke writer hahaha
    good one.
Omg this is the most fun we’ve had since the election. Watching the big guys duke it out. Trump…..Arnold.
    Arnold…..trump. Trump …..Arnold.
    fave guys. Muscle Men. Yeahhhh!!!!

  10. Rob says:

You notice the media is ignoring the biggest wire tapping scandal in history. This makes watergate look like amateur hour. There needs to be a congressional investigation and charges if warranted.

    • Janon says:

How do we get to the hard work of splitting up the republic cleanly?

Psychopaths like Rob, ready to blindly follow any despot as long as HE is white and *claims* to be straight, can have their red state cess pools, their coal mines, their pre-existing conditions, their deranged conspiracy theories, their guns, their “god” and their 3rd world economic policies. Let them eliminate all public services while massively empowering the old white men they suckle at and see how it works out, making them “great again”

The rest of us will happily re-elect the “gay Kenyan Muslim isis agent” and his “transsexual wife” and keep the governator.

      • Not BillUSA says:

The media isn’t ignoring anything. Quit reading the same newspaper, 90% of the media I consume is all about the ongoing scandal.

      • Steve says:

A bit harsher on Rob than I may have been, but definitely on point. I for one miss the Kenyan Muslim atheist gay terrorist wimp around. Hey, maybe he “hated America” like they all said, but apparently not as much as Trump does.

    • Michael Anthony says:

And here’s Rob, who is as paranoid about Trump. He’s like those, who even after hearing the Watergate tapes, thought Nixon was innocent.

    • Ms Finch says:

Consorting with our biggest historical adversary to swing the US presidential election is the biggest scandal in our history, making the false cry of “wiretapping” nothing. Trump was colluding with RUSSIA which is TREASON and the ever growing list of his pals meeting up with Russian operatives increasingly proves it along with his son’s taped confession that a significant amount of the Trump business portfolio is financed by Russian money. Add to that Trump’s absolute fawning for a despotic dictator that has him by the financial balls. You think that’s cool?! There is growing evidence that Russia is trying to disrupt free and democratic elections across the Western world. How can you think this is not a threat to you and your family’s future freedom?

Take off the goofy MAGA hat as it will only lead to a life under a new Soviet world order. With such a grave threat to The US, any administration has the absolute and Constitutionally mandated right to start investigating treason and I’m thrilled they did. The President’s job is to protect us from foreign intervention, which is exactly what he was doing.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger was right to dump the the lame and vapid game show while Trump was still involved. If it were not for his Austrian birth, he would be a far better replacement for the Presidency.

    • JoeR says:

@Rob…like Trump, you know very little about how government works. A president can’t just order a wiretap. It has to be approved by a Fed court. It’s set up that way to protect citizens from people like Trump.
P.S. The media hasn’t ignored it
But they certainly don’t need to promote every nutty paranoid accusation from the lunatic in the White House.

  11. MakeAmerica GropeAgain says:

One show I would watch is where they put Arnold and Donnie in a ring and let them fight it out .

  12. Geri says:

Speaking personally, we removed the “Celebrity Apprentice” from our Season Pass list on TiVo once we learned the Apprentice in the White House was still involved. So, at least for our family, Arnold’s comments are 100% accurate.

    • Neal Wainscott says:

I would pay to see the Donnie running away, hair flying in the wind, shrieking.
A hour of that would get youge ratings.

  13. Alex says:

Next Trump will be blamed for the Best Picture snafu at the Oscars.

  14. mike967 says:

I watched Arnie couple times on the Apprentice for laughs. He was so bad even the contestants were laughing at him. His Austrian accent was so heavy sometimes you couldn’t understand what he said or what language he was speaking. He sounded like Conan O’Brien’s impression of him. Trump had nothing to do with his failure.

    • The Truth says:

As a paid executive producer of The Apprentice, Trump approved Arnold as the replacement host of the show — just another goofball choice in an embarrassing series of numbskull appointments by our clueless Chief Executive.
