UPDATED: Rosette Laursen wanted to spend March 8, A Day Without a Woman, the same way many females across the country planned to: by demonstrating the value women bring to the modern workplace. Instead, her former boss allegedly responded to her request for an unpaid day off with a misogynistic reply.

Laursen, a former Hollywood assistant, spelled out the situation in a Facebook post on Tuesday, where she shared screenshots of his emails. According to her post, the movement encouraged women to take the day off work and refrain from spending money to help others realize their impact, while also raising awareness of pay inequality, wage gaps, and sexual harassment.

An email from her boss meant only for two of Laursen’s male coworkers that accidentally got forward to the whole team read: “Are you f—ing kidding me. At the end of pilot season. Someone should sew her vagina shut. I’m never hiring a girl ever again.”

A second email continued, “No bonus for anyone that strikes or leaves early in pilot season. No one is striking in show business we are all against Trump. And women are considered diverse and being shoved in as writer and directors. Zach who is a Jewish male is being pushed out. Uppity Selfish C–t. Heather went to work. I’m sure anyone at a casting office or agency would be fired.” At the end of her post, she revealed her boss was talent manager Michael Einfeld of Michael Einfeld Management.

Upon realizing his mistake, Einfeld apologized to Laursen via text message. “I apologize for venting like a misogynistic faggot,” he started. “I was letting off steam I didn’t mean to hit reply all. I’m an a-hole. If you come back we can play Nazi death camp. You can beat me and put me in the oven. Or feed me cabbage and lock me in the shower. I am truly sorry.”

“I wasn’t a big fan of any of this, and responded ‘I quit,'” she wrote on Facebook. Still, one of her coworkers encouraged her to come back to the office, qualifying that it was “just a joke.” Laursen said while her boss “could be kind of terrible,” he also “was actually really cool and funny any nice.”

Ultimately, her friends encouraged her to pursue legal action. When Einfeld failed to respond to Laursen’s lawyers, she publicly posted his emails on Facebook.

Before revealing his identity, Laursen referred to Einfeld as “Jorkle.” In her post, which has gained significant traction, she explained why she was no longer willing to be subjected to unfair treatment. “Many Hollywood assistants are underpaid and overworked, yet we are more than willing to do everything it takes to pay our dues to reach our goals and dreams. But in return there needs to be a basic level of respect from our bosses. Nothing fancy, just human decency,” she wrote. “I don’t want people like Jorkle to get away with whatever behavior they want because they know no one is going to do anything about it.”

On Thursday evening, Einfeld sent an email apologizing to his friends, colleagues and clients as Laursen’s post began to draw attention from mainstream media outlets.

“Let me say without reservation – I am sorry. I used language that was tasteless, humorless and completely inexcusable. I believe deeply in workplace diversity regardless of race, gender, creed or sexual orientation, and I am mortified that the things I have said have worked against my commitment to inclusion. As I’ve searched for a response to all this, what I’ve discovered is that words fall woefully short of my extreme remorse – I am so sorry,” Einfeld wrote. “I will be undertaking some obviously needed introspection, and want to thank those of you who have expressed a willingness to standby me. To those that feel they need space from me – I am heartbroken but understand. If it were possible, I wouldn’t mind space from myself right now. Again, to everyone – I am sorry. If this is something you are willing to hear from me in person please call, or send me a note and I’ll call you. I am devastated, and hope in time you will consider giving me the chance to earn your forgiveness.”

Michaels assistant sounds like she needs to go to a safe space and cry herself to sleep. Michael is a funny, crass, loud and often obnoxious person AND THAT IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE HIM. it’s easy to misunderstand what he wrote if you don’t know him. EVERYONE NEEDS TO LIGHTEN UP. If you cant handle strong people don’t work in show business.

  2. Rocky D says:

Whatta total left-wing dickhead. typical Hollyweird.

  3. Bob Upp says:

i know this guy.. he apologizes by referencing the holocaust as a kind of makeup amends.. what a douche..

  4. Withheld says:

Once said, it is out there. Respect seems to be forgotten by the power mongers that hide behind those that that hussle and make them look good. Happens in every industry.
I applaud this person for stepping up and saying I will not take it anymore. We need more like this.
Withheld is a male in a very prestigious position.I see women treated poorly in my international company and I send the “offender” home for the day to make the point that we are all equals. One should never work harder than the one who signs the they work for. Respect runs both directions.

  5. David says:

She was the one in the wrong. She basically called in sick and she wasn’t sick. These feminazis are nutjobs. The only thing the boss did wrong was send unprofessional emails and not fire the assistant, but instead apologized and wanted her back.

    • Bob Upp says:

“her former boss allegedly responded to her request for an unpaid day off with a misogynistic reply.”

birds of a feather.. i bet you love president dump too…

  6. Freddy-D says:

Monetary status and idiocy seem to go hand in hand. Good job Einfeld. You’re an idiot. Oh and Laursen has lawyers already. Does Einfeld have a history of denigrating women or is she just trying to cash in on her opportunity? Maybe I am becoming cynical. I cannot help but think that most feminists would love getting an email like this so they can play the woe-is-me card. It is still wrong and if it is pervasive true then take your backpay but don’t pretend to have emotional distress. Now let the hate from the left and right ensue:

    • oxy says:

I read the Facebook post and she wasn’t going after this guy for a ton of money, just a few months back pay. Whenever you put the word ‘most’ in front of a statement, you’re making a generalization which is really unfair. If I were to say something like ‘most men are assholes’ that would be offensive to men, especially the majority who are not assholes. A feminist is defined as any person who believes in equal rights for men and women. Many of us would hope that that would refer to the majority of people around us. The majority of this sort of workplace abuse goes unreported since, as you probably can guess, it’s unlikely this assistant will find work in this field again. That’s a huge sacrifice for playing the “woe-is-me card”. Personally, I have experienced sexual harassment and discrimination at nearly every job I’ve ever worked at. The only time I reported it was when I was physically assaulted at my workplace. I’m not alone. Many women face the same issues (and backlash) when we speak out.

      • Freddy-D says:

I don’t know how you define a feminist as a person that believes in “equal rights for men and women.” What rights for men are feminists pushing? Equal child custody for men? Equal punishment for women that commit crimes? Their echo chamber wouldn’t allow it just like several members of the NAACP tried to fire Anthony Griffin when he, an African American ACLU lawyer, represented the rights of a KKK member. The nicest plausible definition for feminism is seeking more rights for women until they have equal rights to men. However, the modern reality of what is publicized and pushed by the most vocal feminists that get the most attention is that the definition of feminism is seeking more rights for women, regardless of whether they have equal rights. In the public shaming and job destruction arena, women are largely exempt. In fact, you said that the statement “most men are assholes” would be offensive to men. It should be equally offensive to women. If I were to say the same thing and I were a public figure I would certainly have to apologize for the omission because someone, like a modern feminist, would almost certainly make a big deal out of it and it would be a front page story. Men are denigrated and accused of sexism for being critical of, and even not championing, women’s causes but women never seem to be denigrated for being critical of men’s causes. This is not equal rights. If women and men had perfectly equal rights, do you really think the feminism movement would end?

I think that comparing generalizations of feminists (which are both women and men) with generalizations of men is misplaced. For one, discrimination against feminists is not illegal unless it is based on animosity toward women instead of, say, behavior. Discrimination based on gender is illegal. I am still glad that you commented because I could have made the same points without including that most feminists enjoy sexism because it reinforces their belief in their cause.

    • Maura O'Connor says:

This guy is an absolute, clueless asshole. Note his original reply to her! Using the word “f****t”, minimizing the entire Holocaust and treating it in a humorous manner.
This guy should be executed for sheer stupidity. He does absolutely nothing for the evolution of our species.

  7. S Visek says:

He’s another “Do as I say, not as I do” lefty. Now that he’s been caught he’s acting contrite.
As for the employee, she’ll probably get a settlement of some kind, but no one will hire her. It’s a reality that people who sue are automatically seen as prone to sue in the future. They don’t get hired, just as landlords won’t rent to anyone who has ever been evicted.

  8. Grow up, Ladies. It’s EXACTLY because of nonsense like this that you continue to be ostracized at the workplace. You can’t either legislate or demand respect or equal pay; you have to EARN it. Whining about perceived inequalities to either the Media or the Judiciary just makes men like this fellow NOT want to hire women. In the “old days,” men didn’t want to hire women because of the potentiality of losing an employee for maternity leave. Now, since men are getting leave often as well, that argument is no longer valid. However, what company, either male or female owned, is going to want to deal with the aggravation of having to deal with women an their whining “sexist lawsuits,” or minorities and their “we’re a protected class!” nonsensical lawsuits? Due to the ancillary annoyances that go along with hiring either group, from a perspective of ease of employment, it makes SENSE to hire white males; white males are (seemingly) the only “non-protected” class left. It would be far easier to just come out and say honestly “White men are an UNDERCLASS, gays, minorities, women, and others are just regular folks.” Heck, if you fire a heterosexual, white male, there’s really no one (media or judiciary) who is going to take up his cause, so it just makes sense to avoid the aforementioned irritation to your company to hire them. If all of you “protected classes” just acted like the folks do on Star Trek or half a dozen other futuristic depictions of society, you wouldn’t BE ostracized or minimized any longer.

    • The Truth says:

You are a disgustingly ignorant sexist swine. No employee, regardless of gender, should be subjected to Enfield’s — or your — ugly bigotry. Equal pay for equal work can certainly be demanded and legislated, but that wouldn’t be necessary if society didn’t have to content with gaping assholes like you. Do everyone a favor and crawl back under a rock.

      • Freddy-D says:

I think you misrepresented his point and went right for the name calling. His point is that there should be equal pay for equal work, just not equal pay for less work (“you have to earn it”, “ease of employment”). Argue that point but don’t make a straw man argument to justify the ad hominem. Or just stick your blinders on and believe that this African American is also racist and sexist.

  9. Jillian Dale says:

Ms. Laursen needs to file a complaint against Michael Einfeld with the Dept of Fair Employment and Housing immediately.

  10. Steven S. says:

He apologizes by using the word “f****t” in an equally derogatory way and then refers to Nazi death camps. He simultaneously offends the LGBT community, Jews, and decent people everywhere. If he slips in the N-word next he could have a perfect score of offending everybody. What an a-hole. (At least he got that part right.) If there’s any justice, this will be career ending.

    • Freddy-D says:

I know, right!? I’m just waiting for the excuse that his computer and cellphone were simultaneously hacked. How do dumb people like this end up running things?

  11. andeluca23 says:

absolutely ridiculous! we are so glad she shared her story. Sharing your gender discrimination story is so important.

    • Freddy-D says:

A woman threw a container at me and hit me in the head because I told her she was wrong about something. She admitted to the cops that she threw the container at me. The cops told me they had to pursue charges against me since they were called to the scene. I got charged with assaulting her because I am a man. She walked free because she is a woman. I had to get a lawyer and fight it out in court. Thankfully I won because, obviously, she admitted to throwing the container at me and not the other way around. There’s my story of gender discrimination, but I doubt anyone really cares and it would certainly never make the headlines.

      • oxy says:

My point was not that the cops should have discriminated against you. My point is that women are an oppressed group in society. We are not equal. Many of us live in fear of violence. The cops treated you the way they did not because they want to believe a woman over a man, but because other men choose to beat women. Their generalizations were based on other men not on women. You’ve said repeatedly that feminists just want more rights for women, not equality. That is baseless. We want equality. And that equality includes breaking down gender stereotypes which hold both men and women back. For example, feminists strongly believe that men should also receive maternity leave since there should be no shame in a man taking care of his family in more ways than financially.

      • Freddy-D says:

Wow Roxy! So you are defending cops for making an illegal generalization? Cops are supposed to stick to the facts of the situation, not gender-based generalizations. I guess in your world it is totally fine to generalize about men but not women. So much for your equal rights lie about feminism above. You more aptly fit into the category of feminists that simply want more rights than men or, that men deserve no rights. I think you need to look in the mirror and realize what you are, someone that has an axe to grind. It is also possible that I got prosecuted because I am African American, but according to your logic that would be totally fine because we are more likely to be violent than non-African American men. Thankfully, the female witness was neither racist nor sexist and told the cops that I was in no way violent. Thankfully, the female judge was neither racist nor sexist and dismissed the case. Thankfully, you were not there to chop my head off with your axe because “most” men and especially black men are violent. Don’t bother responding. I am done with you.

      • oxy says:

Did you ever stop to think that maybe the cops responded that way because there are many more men who are violent against women than there are women who are violent against men?

  12. helenart1701 says:

He’s only devastated because he got caught.

    • Freddy-D says:

Sorry Helen. My comment was meant for Oxy, not you.

  13. Former actor, current loser says:

There’s a reason this douche Einfeld only reps actors who are mostly unknown or no longer have much of a career. His bio reads he was once an actor, and that he started the careers of Brendan Frasier, Jim Caviezal,Jeremy London. I know managers like this, washed up has beens who couldn’t act so went into representation. Had decent clients on the rise, but they all leave once they hit it big. Then at the end of their careers, they rep a bunch of has-beens or never-weres and are extremely bitter and hate life, so they treat everyone like crap.

Trust me, the reflecting on his part is just an act. He’ll still be as much of a douche today as he was when he sent those emails. Einfeld is just a big LOSER.

This is also very representative of typical manager and agent behavior. Most Hollywood agents and managers are lowlifes that treat everyone around them terrible.

  14. The emails aren’t sexist in the slightest, they tell the truth and should be praised. Woman took a day off and no one noticed any difference. Now let all men take a day off and watch the world stop, no electricity, no gas, no internet, no food deliveries, no public transport.

    • Freddy-D says:

Just what is your definition of sexism? It seems to me that sexism includes characterizing all women as inferior or characterizing all women negatively. Accordingly, insulting one woman would not be sexist, but it would be sexist to impute those behaviors to all women by saying that because of the behavior of one woman “I’m never hiring a girl ever again.” This man just opened the door to future gender discrimination lawsuits because he has admitted to his own future behavior and failing to hire a qualified women will now seem suspicious. If your cause is to keep women out of the workforce or even to keep lesser qualified women from getting jobs over more qualified men, then why would you praise a guy that just painted himself into a corner that may force him to hire less qualified women to avoid future lawsuits? Pick a better hero, buddy.

    • S Visek says:

While true that no one but the press noticed, it is also true that the reason no one noticed is that only a tiny fraction(not “many” as the article says) of women actually took the day off. For most women, like most men, the priority is working to make a living to provide for our families, not make political statements by not going to work.

    • Sally says:

I feel sorry for your kids.

    • cmondy1 says:

“Someone should sew her vagina shut” tells the truth and should be praised? let’s hope you don’t know any actual women.

  15. Allan Falk says:

having female employees is a pain……anything you say to them can get you sued these days.

going to be great when men just leave women alone, and don’t interact with them at all.
Then these feminists must be real happy

    • The Truth says:

You’re too stupid to get the point, Allan. For the average decent person, it’s not difficult to understand how to treat employees with professional respect, no matter what gender they are. But you’re not a decent person, so the concept of social justice is lost on a useless case like you.

    • Sally says:

Yes and then men like you would have to fend for themselves. You have literally no idea how much is done for you every day. I love that the competition from POC and women scares the hell out of you.

    • cmondy1 says:

yes, i would be. unfortunately men will never leave women alone.

  16. Sam says:

Omg who cares. Stay home and bake cookies. Stay in your safe space.
What’s worse invasion of privacy or writing the article promoting it.

    • The Truth says:

Who cares? Every intelligent person who believes in equality. Unfortunately, most chauvinist asses like you are too dense to understand the concept.

    • Sally says:

Well it obvious you care. I love that the world is changing in your lifetime and your archaic views are going away.

    • brilerose says:

I think I can help answer your question! Here’s is the official ranking of things, from least to most egregious:

      3. “Invasion of privacy”
      2. Writing the article on “invasion of privacy”
      1. Insinuating that someone should genitally mutilate your female employee and apologizing by offering to play Nazi Death Camp

      • oxy says:

All these sexist-asshole-commenters aside, on the “invasion of privacy”-front. This woman got lawyers and Einfeld refused to respond to a single email/phone call or letter from them. He was trying to call her bluff, thinking that she would just go away instead of taking him to court (rather than settling) where all these e-mails would become public anyways. If he cared about this not getting out there, he would have at the very least returned her lawyer’s call.

  17. Ken says:

This Michael Einfeld guy is a psycho.
I can’t even imagine someone thinking, that this is ‘funny’…

And what do his Jewish pals think of this private fantasy: “If you come back we can play Nazi death camp. You can beat me and put me in the oven.”

This is beyond ‘bad taste’, this is unacceptable in any context.

This guy is sick in the head & he shouldn’t be the boss of anyone.

Rosette Laursen did the right thing.
You can’t work for a man like that.
    It makes you dirty.
