Vanessa Marano will be part of Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls,” becoming the latest original cast member to join the revival, Variety has learned exclusively.

Marano will reprise her role as Luke’s (Scott Patterson) daughter April Nardini, who appeared in “Gilmore Girls” in the six and seventh seasons. The character was polarizing, as fans of the beloved show blamed April for Lorelai’s (Lauren Graham) breakup with Luke, as he turned to the unexpected responsibility of having a daughter.

It’s not been made clear in which or how many of the four episodes Marano will appear.

After “Gilmore Girls,” Marano starred on the soap “The Young and the Restless. She currently stars on Freeform’s long-running family drama “Switched at Birth,” which was renewed for a fifth season.

Marano is one of many original cast members who will appear in Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls,” joining Graham (Lorelai), Alexis Bledel (Rory), Scott Patterson (Luke), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Jared Padalecki (Dean), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess)Matt Czuchry (Logan), David Sutcliffe (Christopher), Liza Weil (Paris), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Keiko Agena (Lane) and Yanic Truesdale (Michel). Sutton Foster is so far the only non-original cast members who will be in the four-part series.

No premiere date or official title has been set for Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls.”

  1. Iesha Washington says:

The Gilmore Girls reboot is only going to have four episodes, that sucks. At they’re all 90 minutes.

  2. I love Vanessa Marano, so I’m glad that she’ll be back. April was unfortunate in the way she was introduced and how that played out in the show, but she herself wasn’t a bad character. I liked that Luke had such a brainy daughter, it sort of tied in to how smart Jess was. If Luke & Lorelai’s breakup was to blame on any outside character, it was April’s stupid mom. She was completely unreasonable, but really it was the way Luke handled the situation so badly that ended things.

  3. Elizabeth says:

I like April. If she hadn’t come along, Luke would have found some other reason to back off from Lorelei. He was written as unsettled about the marriage from the beginning.

I agree — Sookie needs to come back!

  4. Lars says:

Did you hear the splash when April was introduced? That was sound of the landing after the show jumped that shark. April wasn’t to blame for Luke & Lorelei breaking up, but she was a horrible character with no actual connection to anyone – including her father. Letting her just fall out of use and remain unseen was the best way to handle her towards the end. Let’s just have a line of exposition in the new series like “How’s April?” “She’s at a great college and she’s doing well.” The end. No need to bring such an annoying useless character back. Let’s just focus on our favorites, shall we?

    • Melissa says:

AGREE!!! She’s not important. We get 360 precious minutes with these characters, and no one cares enough about her to waste 30 second of those minutes on her.

  5. Kathy says:

What about Suki (Melissa Mccarthy)? She is needed too.

  6. Bill says:

Sutton, Lauren and Alexis? This is going to be absolutely amazing!!!

  7. Truly says:

I like Vanessa as an actress so happy April will be back. And I agree with the commenter who said April wasn’t to blame for the breakup–that was all Luke and Lorelai. April was just a scapegoat for bitter fans.

  8. Duce McClain to the 2ed Power... "It's Duce on the Loose" says:

April Nardini needs to marry a BLACK MAN! And so does Lorelai. Other than that the show sucks! Poor Rory! Rory has to put up with a bunch of freaks! She’s the only aladdin sane one of the bunch! Vanessa is a good actress she doesn’t need such a bad show! If

    • Barry says:

Why would you bring color into the mix? Do you happen to be a racist? If you dislike the show as much as you say, why comment? You sound like an immature internet troll.

    • Jillian says:

If the show is that awful, why are you reading an article about it?

  9. nat123394 says:

April is not the reason for Luke and Lorelai’s breakup! Nothing she said or did caused the breakup! Luke and Lorelai’s communication issues and their own actions caused their breakup! I hate it when fans blame April!
