Cedric the Entertainer to Star in CBS Comedy Co-Created With Spike Feresten

Cedric the Entertainer is set to star in a comedy series that’s in early development at CBSVariety has learned. He co-created the comedy with Spike Feresten.

Titled “Tony Take the Wheel,” the multi-camera comedy is about the relationship between two very different brothers whose family dynamic is challenged when one brother hires his teenage nephew to work at his custom car shop.

The car shop subject matter is familiar to Feresten, a car aficionado who hosts Esquire Network’s “Car Matchmaker.” The TV personality, actor and writer was a longtime scribe on “Seinfeld” and for David Letterman’s late-night shows.

For Cedric The Entertainer, should the project go to series, it would mark his first major network comedy in quite some time. His most notable sitcom was “The Steve Harvey Show” back in the ’90s and more recently, he has starred in “The Soul Man” on TVLand.

Both Cedric The Entertainer and Feresten will serve as co-writers and executive producers. Other executive producers are Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum of The Tannenbaum Company, Cedric The Entertainer’s producing partner Eric Rhone of A Bird And A Bear Entertainment and Feresten’s producing partner John Stevens of Hangar 56. CBS Television Studios is producing.

Cedric The Entertainer, Eric Rhone, A Bird And A Bear Entertainment are repped by CAA, plus attorneys Gordon Bobb and Nina Shaw.
