Brahim will oversee corporate communications, program publicity and other PR functions for the cabler that is a joint venture of Showtime and the Smithsonian Institution. She reports to Tom Hayden, president of Smithsonian Networks and Trisha Cardoso, exec VP of corporate communications for Showtime Networks.
Brahim signs on as Smithsonian is readying the launch of new streaming options and expanding its programming slate.
“Joanna’s creativity and wide-ranging experience in unscripted and news programming will serve us well as we embark on the next phase of our network’s expansion and branding efforts,” Hayden said.
Brahim comes to Smithsonian from TLC, where she was senior director of publicity. Before that she headed communications and community affairs for WCBS-TV New York.
