Grace Gummer has been cast as a series regular in “Mr. Robot” Season 2, Variety has learned.

She will play the role of Dominique “Dom” DiPierro, a young FBI field agent investigating the Evil Corp Hack masterminded by Elliot (Rami Malek). She uses her instinctive skills to try and track down the fsociety members and find answers.

Gummer’s slate is lining up, as she recently wrapped production on “Confirmation” for HBO Films and also starred as Nora Ephron in Amazon’s newsroom pilot “Good Girls Revolt,” which was subsequently picked up to series. Hollywood royalty — her mother is Meryl Streep — Gummer’s other television credits include HBO’s “The Newsroom,” FX’s “American Horror Story” and “Extant” on CBS. She made her Broadway debut in the 2011 revival of “Arcadia.”

Arguably television’s biggest breakout of last season, “Mr. Robot” put USA Network on the map with huge critical acclaim, a recent sweep at the Golden Globes and a SAG nomination for Malek.

Talking to Variety, Malek said the second season will be even more of a challenge for him than the first.

Series creator Sam Esmail teased the 10 upcoming episodes — which he will direct — earlier this month at the Television Critics Association press tour: “In season two, there will be a lot more backstory that will be shown,” he said. “And the timeline will get a little clearer. Not a hundred percent clearer, but a little clearer.”

Gummer is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content.
