Michael Schneider has been named executive editor of Indiewire, where he will oversee television coverage in Los Angeles.

Schneider, who was formerly TV editor for Variety and chief content officer and editor-in-chief at TV Guide, will focus on increasing TV coverage for the PMC-owned site including breaking news stories, in-depth reports, features and commentary on all aspects of television – from the executive suite to Emmys to programming.

He will also serve as editor-at-large at Variety, Indiewire’s sister company.

Schneider will oversee Indiewire’s growing television team including TV editor Liz Miller and TV critic Ben Travers, both based in Los Angeles.

He will report to Indiewire editor-in-chief Dana Harris along with deputy editor and chief critic Eric Kohn, editor-at-large Anne Thompson and digital director William Earl.

Prior to TV Guide, Schneider spent 12 years at Variety. He is a regular contributor to KCRW, where he hosts “The Spin-Off” podcast about the TV industry and also appears on Hollywood program “The Business.”
