Brewster will play Maureen Cahill, a Los Angeles Police Department hostage negotiator and in-house therapist who works with traumatized cops. She joins Damon Wayans Sr. and Golden Brooks in the Warner Bros. TV reboot of the action film franchise that starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Gibson’s character has yet to be cast.
Brewster is known for her work in the past four “Fast and Furious” movies. She was also in season one of ABC’s “Secrets and Lies” and a regular in the 2012-2014 TNT redo of “Dallas.” At present she has a small role in FX’s “The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” playing Denise Brown.
“Lethal Weapon” revolves around two mismatched LAPD partners, one who is recovering from a traumatic loss, the other who needs to avoid stress after suffering a heart attack. The pilot is exec produced by Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz. Miller wrote the script for the TV adaptation, which will be directed by McG.
