The tension has been mounting all season long on ABC’s “American Crime,” as more secrets unravel and more questions are raised over exactly what happened to Taylor (Connor Jessup) the night of the captain’s party.
In this exclusive sneak peek at Wednesday’s episode, Leyland headmaster Leslie Graham (Felicity Huffman) argues with the school’s lawyer about her decision to warmly welcome back Eric Tanner (Joey Pollari), who’s been revealed as gay after his suicide attempt.
“You don’t get it,” Leslie tells the lawyer after he accuses of her “trying to normalize deviant behavior.”
After the police decided not to press charges against anyone from the basketball team over the night’s events, Taylor’s mother (Lili Taylor) decided to file suit against the school for negligence and failure to protect — and Leslie is looking for a way to protect the school.
“We have shifted this situation from an entire team of boys facing arrest and prosecution to a hysterical mother taking some last stab at restitution. We need to manage public perception. We do that by welcoming back a confused young man who almost took his new life. It’s insane you would let your own biases prevent the school taking advantage of the situation.”
