Kanye West’s NSFW music video for the infamous “Famous,” possibly his most controversial and latest single off of “The Life of Pablo,” has Lena Dunham up in arms.

“The Famous video is one of the more disturbing ‘artistic’ efforts in recent memory,” Dunham wrote in a Facebook post. “Now I have to see the prone, unconscious, waxy bodies of famous women, twisted like they’ve been drugged and chucked aside at a rager? It gives me such a sickening sense of dis-ease.”

The video, which recreates Vincent Desiderio’s “Sleep” painting, includes Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, George Bush, Bill Cosby and Caitlyn Jenner along with West’s wife, Kim Kardashian. Although Dunham appreciates nudity in art, this wasn’t up her alley. She spoke out about the negative effects some ventures can have on women.

Kanye West Tricked Fans Into Subscribing to Tidal, Lawsuit Claims

“I don’t have a hip cool reaction, because seeing a woman I love like Taylor Swift (f–k that one hurt to look at, I couldn’t look), a woman I admire like Rihanna or Anna [Wintour], reduced to a pair of waxy breasts made by some special effects guy in the Valley, it makes me feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this and may not understand that grainy roving camera as the stuff of snuff films,” she wrote.

Although Dunham thinks Kanye is “cool,” she urged him to streamline his creative expression and move away from harmful gender and cultural archetypes.

“Make a statement on fame and privacy and the Illuminati or whatever is on your mind! But I can’t watch it, don’t want to watch it, if it feels informed and inspired by the aspects of our culture that make women feel unsafe even in their own beds, in their own bodies,” she wrote.

I’m glad that people see the hypocrisy in her statements. She seem to crave negative attention as much as Kanye; they both need therapy.

    3. GEM says:

Kanye and Kim are pigs. What a horrible example to their kids! And who is Lena Dunham anyway to be spewing her righteous indignation when she bragged, joked and wrote about repeatedly molesting her younger sister? She, too, is a swine — a hanger-on to famous people, hoping to cash in on fame through them. What a hypocrite.

    4. Temi says:

This bitch Lena Dunham ONLY has time to slander black men, A Pro-Feminist Against Black Men ONLY

    5. Je Suis Moi says:

I don’t like Kanye West, but who is Lena Dunham and why should people care what she thinks?

    6. Impressions and engagements slipping big time, Lena? Time to just blow your bullhorn in the street?

    7. CONSENT IS THE DIFFERENCE FOLKS!!! All of her actors, and HERSELF included CONSENTED to the nudity or depictions in her show… Know the difference and why it matters.

      • Chantelle says:

You nailed it. Its highly unlikely that more than half of the people represented in that photo gave consent. Its horrifying to think anyone can recreate a persons likeness naked and display it for the world to see. If a kid at a school with artistic talent created a picture of a classmate naked you can be very sure there would be repercussions. Why can Kanye depict a former president or public figure naked and profit from it???

    8. What a hypocrite! She has used her plus size, overweight nudity for her own financial gain repeatedly.

At least Kanye West was creating art and saying something to stimulate debate and thought. He wasn’t just trying to cash in like all these high and mighty feminists whose only interest in females rights is to improve their own bank balance. People forget that Kanye is an artist, creating art.

      • GEM says:

Sorry, Kanye is no artist. He has no concept of what art is. He just thinks up this trash for shock value and other people who have no idea about art either, latch onto it and think it’s cool. He and Kim are pathetically trying to grasp at any kind of fame they can because they’re irrelevant.

    9. verbatim says:

I thought liberals say all “art” must be respected?

So it’s OK for her to sexually assault her younger sister and make a joke out it in her book, but Kanye’s video “makes [her] feel sad and unsafe and worried for the teenage girls who watch this and may not understand that grainy roving camera as the stuff of snuff films.”

    10. K.D. says:

Wow. From someone whose on-screen boyfriend peed on her in a shower, and came on a girl friend’s back, she is passing judgement on another “artist?” Even telling him what to create?
      Again…. wow.
Sure he’s an asshole, but so are a lot of artists.
So, Ms. Dunham…welcome to the club.

    11. Yu-Juan-Son says:

so she can tell an artist what to do cause she thinks she’s a feminist?? censorship is not feminism. funny thing is that a provocative boundaries-pushing person like dunham can’t understand provocative art. hypocrite

    12. Alex says:

She should go to Canada now, she may be upset that West didn’t have a wax figure of her in the video.

    13. HDPR says:

Why is Lena Dunham’s opinion a news article? Variety is slipping.

    14. Yeezy says:

Who cares what this child molestor has to say tbf

    15. Sexracist says:

Worried about teenage girls? Yeah okay. More like trying to buy some free publicity for her brand of self-righteousness.

    16. lakawak says:

So…she only ared about the WOMEN that were portrayed like that? Nice to see she is a hypocrite.

    17. JD says:

Kanye is a jerk-off. Take your “celebrity” whore and her family and go away!

    18. Benji Martin says:

Typical Kanye West — no respect for true artistry!
