UPDATED: Country singer Craig Strickland was found dead on Monday after have been missing for a week. He was 29.
His body was recovered in Bear Creek Cove on Kaw Lake following a massive search in the area, north of Tulsa, Okla.
“#CraigStrickland was found today,” his wife, Helen Strickland, tweeted. “He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen.”
His friend Chase Morland sent a haunting, final tweet on Dec. 26 about the duo embarking on a duck-hunting trip during a winter storm.
“In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm,” Morland tweeted late Saturday. The men were reported missing the following day.
On Dec. 28, Backroad Anthem, Strickland’s country rock band, revealed that Morland, 22, had been found dead at Kaw where their capsized boat was also discovered.
“Everyone please say special prayers for the family of Chase Morland,” Backroad Anthem wrote on Facebook. “They were very close friends and it is such a heartbreaking loss. Randy Strickland (Craig’s father) has informed us Craig has not been found. Please keep praying for his safety.”

Strickland has been a member of Backroad Anthem, which consists of six country musicians based in Fayetteville, Ark., since 2012.
Strickland’s dog was found safe, his wife tweeted.
“Craig’s dog Sam has been found. His boat has been confirmed as being capsized,” Strickland, a former Miss Arkansas USA, wrote last Monday. “They are still searching for Craig. Please keep praying.”
Monday night’s search was called off due to rough weather conditions, Strickland’s family said in a statement via the band’s Facebook page. Searches resumed last Tuesday and continued until this week.
“We are trying to think of a scenario where he is still alive. Hoping against the odds,” the post read. “We can’t even stand to think about it. We are devastated. Only God and time can put us back together.”
