Sanjit De Silva also will appear in Sarah Burgess’s comic drama. Thomas Kail, the “Hamilton” director who is currently at work directing FOX’s upcoming “Grease: Live,” directs.
Emmy winner Danes (“Homeland,” “Temple Grandin”), who made her Broadway debut in the 2007 Broadway revival of “Pygmalion,” will appear alongside Krasinski (making his theatrical debut in the project) as two colleagues at a private equity firm who have two very different ideas of what to do in the face of a PR catastrophe. Azaria, who starred in “Spamalot” on Broadway and also appeared in “The Farnsworth Invention,” will play the head of the firm whose pricey engagement party landed the firm in trouble.
“Dry Powder” is the latest attention-grabbing title to come from downtown’s Public Theater, which also spawned “Hamilton” as well as “Eclipsed,” the Danai Gurira play that stars Lupita N’yongo and will transfer to Broadway later this spring.
“Dry Powder” begins previews March 1 ahead of a March 22 opening. The production is part of a season that marks artistic director Oskar Eustis’ tenth season with the New York nonprofit.
