A woman was shot during a screening of Michael Bay’s “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” in a Washington state movie theater on Thursday night.

Police have arrested the suspect who admitted to accidentally shooting and injuring a woman sitting in front of him at Regal Cinema at The Landing in Renton, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities were called around 8 p.m. after a man, who seemed to be intoxicated, fumbled with a gun and fired a shot about 20 minutes into the film. Police evacuated the theater where the crime occurred, but not the entire cineplex because the gunman had left by the time they arrived.

The 29-year-old returned home after the shooting and called 911 around 9.40 p.m., claiming he had dropped his gun and it fired when it fell to the ground, according to the AP and local station KIRO7. The man reportedly said he had been drinking before the shooting, which was accidental.

The woman’s condition was upgraded from critical to serious on Thursday night, the AP reports, but she is expected to recover. She’s being treated for a shoulder wound at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The bullet missed her major arteries.

Police don’t believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

  1. Hollywood Hills says:

People in America are usually one of two things, if not both: mentally messed up or stupid.

  2. Larry says:

Does this have anything to do with the movie 13 hours? No let’s put it under the drunk title or gun control.

  3. Craig says:

Only in America people can be this stupid. If you put all Republicans on an island with their obsessed guns, after losing half the population within 2 years, very quickly they will smarten up and opt for better gun control. Well, not sure about the smart part.

  4. Greg says:

This can only happen in the US….greatest country in the world…with the craziest gun laws.

now here’s a candidate for the Darwin award!

  6. Panagiotaropoulos says:

In his defense, her shoulder looked like Hillary’s. A drunk patriot can tolerate so much.

  8. Brock says:

“13 Hours” is a great film. Have you seen it, Phil Esteen? I’ll bet you haven’t because Hil-LIAR-y Rodent Clinton is NEVER mentioned, so how is it a hit piece? My favorite part of the movie-going experience was sitting there with my weapon properly holstered, knowing full well that if a drunken fool points in my direction, I can shoot back.

    • killallguns says:

as an american Im scared people like brock here are laying in plain sight just waiting for an opportunity to shoot someone. KillAllGuns

  9. Phil Esteen says:

Considering “13 Hours” is a right wing, gun-glorifying anti-Hillary-hit-piece, I am not surprised a drunken, gun-toting Republican ‘accidentally’ shot someone in theater.

    • Yeah, and your idiot liberals will not prosecute this guy, but try to take guns from honest citizens that know how to handle and respect them. Because he was the victim.

      • In what scenario do you think liberals would treat this idiot like the victim? Like really, use your brain. Nobody of any political persuasion would think that way — you’re too knee-deep in lies and rhetoric to bring forth any real logic.

The majority of people — whether left- or right-leaning — are good. They can usually agree for the *most* part on what is right and what is wrong, and can recognize that maybe people who get wasted shouldn’t be allowed to simultaneously carry a gun around (whether in a movie theatre or elsewhere).

I’m not saying liberals are all perfect people (I’m also not going to lump a good 30+% of the American population into the exact same mindset), but you lose all credibility as a rational human being when you throw around ridiculous, unfounded statements like that.

Have you verified the political party of this idiot with the gun? In my life experience idiots abound in all political persuasions…as exampled by your post…
