The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has teamed up with Telefilm Canada to present a six-movie series of Canadian films, “See the North,” on a U.S. tour.

Intended to represent the country’s best talent, the series’ curated selection of films, which include “Into the Forest” (starring Ellen Page and Evan Rachel Wood), “Closet Monster” (pictured above) and “Sleeping Giant,” will kick off its tour April 1-3 at the IFC Center in New York.  The films’ directors will be in attendance to intro their films as well as participate in post-screening Q&As.

“Canadian movies and Canadian talent have proven themselves among the best in the world,” said TIFF artistic director Cameron Bailey in a statement. “ ‘See the North’ is America’s chance to catch up with some of today’s most inventive filmmakers, who happen to be working just north of the border.”

Added Telefilm Canada executive director Carolle Brabant: “This initiative proves, once again, that there’s strength in numbers — that collaboration yields great ideas such as ‘See the North,’ a unique opportunity to reach out to a very active segment of the U.S. movie-going public.”

Select films in the “See the North” series will tour additional U.S. cities.  Further details, including tour stops, will be released this summer.
