The trailer for “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” released by Universal on Tuesday, finds Rogen’s Mac Radner and Rose Byrne’s Kelly Radner facing off against new neighbors, Kappa Kappa Nu, as they expect their second child. The couple enlists Efron’s Teddy, who, along with his fraternity brothers, terrorized them in the first film, for help to reclaim the neighborhood, sell their home and move to the suburbs.
Meanwhile, Chloë Grace Moretz’s character Shelby is tired of their school’s “sexist” Greek system, which only allows frats to throw parties, and has decided to start a house with “nu rules” where their ragers will be the talk of the town.
The original 2014 comedy was a massive hit, breaking countless box office records and hauling more than $270 million worldwide on a $18 million budget.
Newcomers Moretz, Selena Gomez and Lisa Kudrow join returning cast members Ike Barinholtz, Dave Franco and Carla Gallo.
The sequel, directed by Nicholas Stoller, hits theaters on May 20. Stoller wrote the script alongside Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver produced the film, while O’Brien, Andrew Jay Cohen, Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake executive produced.
