Jamie Foxx will play Little John in Lionsgate’s upcoming “Robin Hood: Origins” movie.
“Peaky Blinders” director Otto Bathurst is directing from Joby Harold’s script. The film — set in the Sherwood Forest — follows the titular hero as he returns from the Crusades and forms a band of outlaws to deal with corruption. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are producing through their Appian Way banner with Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell through their Safehouse Productions.
Taron Egerton plays the title role and Eve Hewson has been set to play Maid Marian.
Numerous “Robin Hood” movies have been made during the past century. The most recent came in 2010 with Ridley Scott directing Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett in Universal’s “Robin Hood,” which topped $320 million worldwide.
The news about Foxx was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
