Universal is in early development of a third installment of its police comedy franchise “Ride Along 3,” starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.
Screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are working on the script with director Tim Story. The trio has worked on the first two “Ride Along” movies. Ice Cube, Will Packer, Matt Alvarez and the late Larry Brezner produced the first two movies.
The first “Ride Along” opened in 2014 with Hart as a security guard trying to prove to his girlfriend’s police officer brother, played by Cube, that he is a worthy brother-in-law by going on a police ride-along. The film, set in Atlanta with a $25 million budget, grossed $153 million worldwide.
“Ride Along 2,” which opened in January, was set in Miami with Hart’s character having graduated from the police academy and the duo dealing with crime lords. The sequel grossed $124 million worldwide.
No plot details are available for “Ride Along 3.” Cube and Hart are expected to reprise their roles.
Universal is opening Hart’s comedy concert movie “Kevin Hart: What Now?” this weekend at 2,568 North American locations. Cube will be seen next in the New Line high-school comedy “Fist Fight” with Charlie Day.
Story directed both “Think Like a Man” movies and “Hurricane Season.” The news was first reported by The Wrap.
Who’s watching this garbage?? I heard the sequel was worse than the first movie.
can never get enough cube, man. They would not make them if enough people did not like them enough to make them profitable. Just cuz you are not interested does not mean others are not. It sucks to call people sell outs. Makes no sense. They are actors and they acy for money but Cube will always be Cube. You would not say no to the cheques he gets and he even admits he does it for the money, Why else? He is not Laurence Olivier. MORE CUBE
why are internet people so bitter and negative? Come on, the first two movies were entertaining enough
I can’t tell if it is incompetence or racism that is that basis for green lighting these movies. Either way Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are sell outs.
Ugh. These movies need to stop! They’re awful!!! Ice Cube and Kevin Hart have proven to be better than this!!!
That’s your opinion and seriously the producers and shit don’t care what we think, and calling them sell outs is like saying the expendables are stupid which they’re not. Seriously they’re better than all three Rush Hours with Jacki Chan and Chris Tucker, and in fact nobody gives a shit about your opinions.
