Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are developing a new standalone movie featuring an all-star cast of female DC heroes and villains with Margot Robbie attached to reprise her role of Harley Quinn.

Robbie will also produce the pic, which will not only feature Quinn, but popular characters such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey also making appearances. Who exactly will be considered the lead opposite Robbie is still unknown. Exact plot details are also unknown currently.

Robbie will first appear as Quinn in “Suicide Squad” opposite Will Smith and Jared Leto. Though the film doesn’t bow until August, Robbie has already garnered attention for her performance as the fan-favorite character, which studio had always seemed interested in spinning off to other movies.

There was no need to announce this so early. WB can’t stop tripping over themselves in the DC universe. Geezuz. Stop trying to be Marvel with early announcements. It’s not working.
I love DC but man. They can’t stop bumbling.

  2. Thorin Oakenshield says:

She looks like she could be one of the best things about the film – fingers crossed!

    margot robbie In good company

  4. Eli Nathen says:

I desperately waiting for this movie, Yes Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney and Jared Leto all looks terrific. I recently observe some costumes of Suicide Squad at Sky-Seller. Recent Trailer of this movie make me crazy.

  5. BillUSA says:

This self-destructive course of decision-making pervading DCEU has taken a path similar to that of Charlie Sheen.

  6. Lara says:

Love how Margot`s taking charge of her own career.

  7. Chris Darling says:

Smart move on Warner Brothers part no matter what happens with Suicide Squad. A women-led comic book film to put alongside the Wonder Woman film makes DC two up on Marvel/ Disney. Hey Kevin, when are you give Scarlett Johansson a shot?

    • Jacques Strappe says:

OMFG! Why do DC fans always turn everything into a Marvel vs DC contest.

      • Chris Darling says:

Not a fan of one against the other. Just want to see more women on film, in film and behind film.

  8. PiP says:

Might this be a clumsy attempt to pull focus from DC Comics sexual harassment & discrimination issues rather than fixing them? Look at all the women, talk about this and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain? Deplorable move, if so. If not, as others point out, it’s a terrible idea. The DCEU is beyond troubled and should be reevaluated, not added to. A second rate character, a third rate actress, this is the decision making that produced the BvS debacle.

    • BR says:

Wow that’s just an incredible stupid analysis.

      • Thorin Oakenshield says:

A third-rate actress – what have you been smoking? As for being a second-rate character – no fella, one of the most popular! Give it a few years and she will be as big as Jennifer Lawrence!

    • EricJ says:

But it’s the BvS debacle that created Warner’s new urge to put Suicide Squad (and Robbie’s Harley) up as the new studio-franchise flagship instead, since they knew months ahead that fan buzz was more interested in seeing that one.
The idea to take the fans’ Harley-centrism, and try to plug it into their “DC Girls” marketing….that was also Warner. Unfortunately.

  9. Chris says:

WB needs to slow down and take it one step at a time. Their desperation is beginning to show.

  10. Weareallwonderwoman says:

Bad actress, absurd character suffering from abuse and mental illness not a good role model for women just eye candy for guys. I would like to see Wonder Woman, not glorified and sexualized villains. WB can do better than this.

    • Marie says:

The character is a villain, not some character that is part of an after school special. SHE’S NOT REAL. So why does she suppose to be a role model for women?

      • Thorin Oakenshield says:

Yes, lets have another stereotypical Female Villain/Hero lol! Not everything is Black and White, things are more nuanced – characters should reflect that! Mark my words, she will become a Superstar after this movie!

      • BillUSA says:

That’s the same question a lot of people ask – but from another point of view. There ARE females out there who will emulate Harley Quinn because counter-culture has grown to epidemic proportions among the youth of today. Ugly is in. A character like HQ is appealing to many and will certainly be adored to varying degrees among the young females of today. Males aren’t exempt from this either, but this is a female character we’re talking about.

    • Phlegmbot says:

Actually, they can’t. The word inside WB (according to someone there I’ve worked with) is that the WW film dailies have been awful, and the studio hasn’t high hopes for the film.

Putting aside the generous reviews Godot received amidst the the BvS carnage, based on the images and info they’ve released, fans (as far as I’ve seen on the comics sites) are not pleased. Not to mention the Twitter blowback. Plus, the story sounds like it’s going to ignore virtually all of the source material.

      So…yeah.

  11. KWK says:

Ohhh goody! Yet another superhero spin-off!
