Jennifer Jason Leigh Set for American Cinematheque Salute

Retrospective kicks off with a screening of 'The Hateful Eight' on Feb. 3.

The American Cinematheque will toast Oscar-nominated actress Jennifer Jason Leigh next month.

Beginning on Feb. 3, the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica will screen key films from the “Hateful Eight” star’s career. The first movie to put her on the map was “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” in which she played a teen experiencing sex for the first time.

“I was completely won over by her,” Roger Ebert said of her performance at the time. “She contained so much life and light that she was a joy to behold.”

The ’80s brought a slew of work from “Last Exit to Brooklyn” to period films like “Mrs. Parker & the Vicious Circle” and contemporary dramas “Georgia” and “Single White Female.” 2015 has been another strong year for Leigh. She voiced the lead character in Charlie Kaufman’s stop-motion animated film “Anomalisa” and was nominated for Oscar supporting actress for her performance as Daisy Domergue in Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight.”

The Aero salute will kick off with a screening of “The Hateful Eight” on Feb. 3. On Feb. 15, the theater will play a double feature of “Georgia” and “Vicious Circle.” A second double feature will play on Feb. 22 with “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “Single White Female.”

Leigh was named best supporting actress for her work in “The Hateful Eight” by the National Board of Review in December. She was also nominated in the supporting actress category at the Spirit Awards for her voice work in “Anomalisa.”
