SF Studios has inked further deals on two anticipated Scandi pics, the Shia LaBeouf starrer “Borg/McEnroe” and “Børning2 – On Ice,” at the American Film Market.
Directed by Janus Metz Pederson, the Danish helmer whose credits include “Armadillo” and “True Detective,” “Borg/McEnroe” has proven an international sales hit since being introduced by SF Studios and Tre Vanner at Cannes.
“Borg/McEnroe” was acquired by Best Film in Poland, Hualu in China, Phoenecia for the Middle East and Fame Solutions/Programs4Media for former Yugoslavia. Ahead of the AFM, the project was picked up by Lucky Red (Lucky Red) and Cineplex (Colombia). SF Studios had previously sold the pic to 10 territories including France (Pretty Pictures), UK (Curzon), GAS (Ascot Elite) and Australia/New Zealand (Vendetta).
The anticipated project toplines Sverrir Gudnason (“Monica Z”) as Swedish tennis icon Bjorn Borgand and Shia LaBeouf (“American Honey”) as John McEnroe.
Meanwhile, “Børning 2 – On Ice,” the sequel of “Borning” – Norway’s top-grossing film of 2014 which won four Amanda awards (Norway’s equivalent to the Oscars) — sold to Morefilms in Germany, in AB Droit Audiovisuels in France, Filmmedya in Turkey and Blue Brick in South Korea.
SF Studios also closed deals on “In the Forest of Huckybucky” which went to Hualu (China) and Myndform (Iceland), and “Bamse and the Witch’s Daughter” which was picked by Green Narae for South Korea.
