Cannes: FilmRise Taps Content Media as Foreign Sales Arm (EXCLUSIVE)

Film and television distributor FilmRise has tapped Content Media Corp. as its exclusive international sales arm, Variety has learned exclusively.

Content Media has launched sales for FilmRise at the Cannes Film Festival for films that include “My Father Die,” “Harry & Snowman,” “Silicon Cowboys,” “The Bad Kids” and “Five Nights in Maine.”

FilmRise raised more than $25 million to finance the acquisition and licensing of film and TV titles for all distribution channels. Its film catalog, which currently has 6,000-plus titles, includes “Going Clear,” “Janis: Little Girl Blue” and the “Star Wars” documentary “Elstree 1976.”

“We are delighted to announce Content Media as our exclusive international sales arm,” FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher said. “We are confident that our alignment with the leading sales team at Content will help build upon our successes on a global scale, and look forward to our films finding homes overseas.”

Recent FilmRise acquisitions include the true-crime documentary “The Witness,” the drone warfare documentary “National Bird” and the Sundance drama “White Girl.”

“We have enjoyed a terrific and growing relationship with FilmRise, and are thrilled that FilmRise has selected Content Media to handle its international sales efforts,” Content Media CEO John Schmidt said.
