Stef Dawson (“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” 1 and 2), Chinese pop star Wu Zhun and Australia’s Shane Jacobson (“The Dressmaker”) have joined the cast of “Nest.”
The big-budget, English-language horror thriller is a Chinese-Australian co-venture that is shooting at the Village Roadshow Studios on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Film is being directed by Kimble Rendall, who previously shot “Bait 3D,” an action thriller that similarly had Chinese and Australian funding and was a 2013 hit in China.
“Nest,” which sees a group of scientists uncover a swarm of deadly funnel web spiders, already stars Chinese superstar Li Bingbing (“Resident Evil”,) Kellan Lutz (“The Twilight Saga”) and Kelsey Grammer (TV’s “Frasier” and “Transformers”.)
International sales on the picture are spearheaded by Darclight, the genre label of Arclight Films.
