The English-, Sinhala- and Tamil-language feature will start principal photography in Sri Lanka from January 2017. Set over a 10-year time period between 2000-2010, the film is about an estranged father and son and will feature Ravindra Randeniya, four time Sri Lankan best actor winner.
“At the heart of the story is the Tamil-Sinhala conflict. It could be a metaphor for the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Hindu-Muslim conflict in India, the Black and White conflict in America,” Padmakumar told Variety.
Padmakumar’s The Open Iris and The Satish Kaushik Entertainment companies will produce on a $600,000 budget. Film Team (“Midnight’s Children”) will line produce.
“Story,” another father and son tale, is preparing its Indian release after the Mumbai festival.
