Jay-Z and Beyonce can’t cross the street without global-wide speculation they’re house hunting and the latest scuttlebutt is that the pop-rap royals covertly acquired a swanky condo at the newly constructed Pierhouse complex in Brooklyn Heights. So the story goes, as first revealed on the Brooklyn Paper blog, a security guard at the glassy complex ratted the couple out to a long-time local resident who subsequently announced the alleged purchase at a crowded community meeting. A spokesperson for the development, which overlooks the lower Manhattan skyline, has poo-pooed the rumor but let’s be honest, butter beans, would anyone expect a PR person to confirm a purchase by the superrich A-listers? No, of course not.
The couple has reportedly peeped potential pieds-a-terre in Paris, looky-looed just about every $20 million-plus estate in Los Angeles, and shopped for bigger digs in lower Manhattan where they shack up in an 8,300-square-foot Tribeca loft. They’re thought by many to be behind a $1.32-million purchase of a 13,000-square-foot church conversion in New Orleans and they’re reported to currently spend upward of $150,000 a month to lease a super-luxe Los Angeles mansion once owned by Babyface Edmunds.
