Martin Tremblay, former president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has joined comedy festival and media producer Just for Laughs as exec VP of strategy and development.

Tremblay, who headed Warner Bros.’ games division from 2008 until he departed last year, will lead Just for Laugh’s initiatives in digital and televisual content. He will open an L.A. office for the Canadian company, which is based in Montreal.

“Martin Tremblay’s expertise, experience and knowledge of entertainment on an international level is an important asset to ignite Just for Laughs’ global activities,” said Gilbert Rozon, founder and president of Just for Laughs Group.

Prior to running Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Tremblay was president of worldwide studios for Vivendi Games. He started in the video-game biz in 1999 at Ubisoft Montreal, where he served as president and CEO from 2000 to 2006.

Just for Laughs is “a dynamic company that established itself with the success of its festivals, its television programming and its digital presence around the world,” Tremblay said in a statement.

The company, founded in 1983, has four business units: festivals, which it stages in Montreal, Toronto and Sydney; TV productions including “Gags,” distributed in 135 countries; live shows; and talent management. The Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival claims to be the world’s largest comedy event, with 1.3 million visitors each summer.
