Jennifer Lawrence is the oldest young woman you know, according to Funny or Die.

A new fake trailer from the comedy video site pokes fun at the age disparity between Lawrence and her characters in David O. Russell’s films. She’s collaborated with the filmmaker on three movies — all of which required her to play women almost twice her age. A 25-year-old Lawrence plays a 40-year-old mother of three in “Joy,” her latest pic; the then 23-year-old Lawrence played the mother of a 5-year-old and the wife of 39-year-old Christian Bale in “American Hustle”; and the then 21-year-old actress played a widow and 38-year-old Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend in “Silver Linings Playbook.”

So it’s only natural that she’ll play a “really, really old lady who still looks totally young and hot” in her next movie, according to the video. “This spring, get ready to see Jennifer Lawrence play her oldest character yet: An 89-year-old woman that looks like she’s 16,” the voiceover says.

The rest of the cast includes her former costars Donald Sutherland as her boyfriend and Robert DeNiro as her great-grandson.

DeNiro, who Lawrence starred alongside in all three aforementioned Russell films, plays Lawrence’s father in “Joy.” However, art may be imitating art soon as Lawrence told Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan during a recent appearance on “Live! With Kelly and Michael” that she could be taking on the role of De Niro’s mom in an upcoming Russell project.

“David is making something right now and the plan, so far, is for me to play Bob De Niro’s mother,” Lawrence said in mid December. “I think that the more people give him crap about me being too young for his parts, he’s like, ‘Oh yeah, watch this’ — so we’ll see.”

Russell himself has said in the past that he (like Harvey Weinstein) initially thought Lawrence was too young for the role of Tiffany in the dark romantic comedy “Silver Linings” — distributed by The Weinstein Company — but she changed their minds with her Skype audition.

Directors will hire her to play any age as long as she can help their film make money, but to me she seemed alright to play her character in Silver Lining Playbook , but in American Hustle she looked like she was playing dress up and it was really distracting.

    She’s becoming quite annoying.

A 20 year old Elizabeth Taylor played a 60 year old and won the oscar in 1956. Jennifer’s characters have been realistic in both SLP and American Hustle and she pulled it off really well too, though she is young for those roles. In Joy, however, its even more relevant as she had to play an 18yr old and a 40 year old. Her role has been rewritten younger and with 2 kids instead of 3. Also this is not a biopic as it is 50% fictional or taken from other women’s lives.

Well said. I don’t get the criticism…I guess when you are too successful people need to find a reason to criticize you in some way…

      • jonalbert says:

Elizabeth Taylor did NOT win an Oscar in 1956. She won for Butterfield 8 in 1960 playing a prostitute, and 1966 in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? She was 19 in 1951, so your math is off too.

      • I personally am not critical of Jennifer Lawrence. Love her to death, but it is kind of representative of this whole thing in Hollywood where once a lovely, successful young woman hits 30 she slowly fades from view. It’ll probably happen to Lawrence 5 years from now.

WHEN DOES THE MOVIE “Really Really Old Lady who still looks totally young and hot” COME OUT?
