IAC-owned video site Vimeo has sealed content deals with two leading U.K. distribution companies. The pacts with All3Media Intl. and BBC Worldwide will deliver a range of comedy, drama, and documentary titles to Vimeo’s transactional video-on-demand service.
The first slate of All3Media Intl. programming released on Vimeo includes all four seasons of Objective Productions’ “Fresh Meat,” the “painfully amusing” drama following six students through their university years, from satirical and comedy writers Jesse Armstrong (“Peep Show,” “The Thick of It”) and Sam Bain (“Peep Show”).
The deal also includes all seven seasons of Company Pictures’ youth drama series “Skins,” which tackles “the highs and lows of growing up through the stories of friendship, ambition, drug culture, mental health, sex and relationships, all with an honesty and conviction seldom seen on screen,” according to a statement.
BBC Worldwide will be delivering music documentary “They Will Have to Kill Us First,” a Mojo Music production that tells the story of when music was banned in Northern Mali in 2012 following its takeover by radical Islamists, which forced musicians into exile.
Also in the BBC Worldwide package are short-form series “Mission Selfie” and “Isms & Schisms.” Adventure series “Mission Selfie” features social-media stars Ben Brown and Steve Booker as they travel the globe on a quest to take the “ultimate selfie.”
“Isms & Schisms,” a Burning Bright production, is a fast-moving short-form series offering “a fun and irreverent study of politics and ideology around the world” fronted by journalist and writer Owen Jones.
“Vimeo is thrilled to collaborate with All3Media Intl. and BBC Worldwide,” Vimeo’s head of global content partnerships and distribution, Sam Toles, said. “The partners each bring a unique array of content from the U.K.’s finest creators that we’re excited to have on our platform for viewers around the world.”
