Cartoon Network is hosting a game jam for indie developers to create games based on the characters in their mobile game “OK K.O.! Lakewood Plaza Turbo.”
Following the launch of “OK,” the game jam will be opened Feb. 12-14, with 200 independent game developers having 48 hours to create a game of their own based on the cast from the “Lakewood Plaza” game and short film. The winner of the game jam will earn a fully funded project to continue work on their prototype, while runner-ups will have their game featured on CartoonNetwork.com.
The main game “OK K.O.! Lakewood Plaza Turbo” will also be paired with animated shorts made available on Cartoon Network’s digital platforms. Each of these shorts will come from a different animation studio, offering their own perspective on the series.
“Cartoon Network is no longer just creating series, we are creating animated worlds,” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. “OK K.O.! is part of our new development strategy, which brings a diverse array of creative and digital talent collaborations to the storytelling process.”
