Matt Bennett has been named executive vice president of corporate communications for the MPAA, after serving as senior VP at international PR firm Racepoint Global and as a top executive at PhRMA, the trade association for the pharmaceutical industry.
Bennett succeeds Laura Nichols, who left the MPAA in February to head communications at National Geographic Partners.
At Racepoint, Bennett was the D.C. practice lead, and led the agency’s PR work, including strategic campaigns focused on public policy. At PhRMA, he was responsible for all external and internal communications, and launched a rebranding effort to emphasize the industry’s focus on science and patients.
MPAA chairman Chris Dodd said Bennett’s experience “will help our organization effectively advance the mission and priorities of our member studios.”
Bennett also had stints as senior vice president at GolinHarris, where he worked with companies in technology, health care and retail. He is a graduate of American University in Washington.
