“Hey y’all! I made it to New Hampshire and I’m thrilled to be taking over the HRC Instagram! Warning: I’m pretty focused on my outfits,” Dunham wrote. The post got almost 10,000 likes as of Friday, but also some critical reactions to Dunham’s involvement in the campaign.
Dunham also has been making campaign appearances with FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Abby Wambach.
Clinton did an interview with Dunham’s Lettyletter.com in September and appeared in a brief video.
Dunham’s appearance is a way to reach younger voters, even if celebrity endorsements have primarily been a way to simply draw attention. The twist has been the use of Clinton’s Instagram account.
Katy Perry performed for Clinton at a rally in Iowa in October, and also took over the Instagram account.
Meanwhile, Clinton will appear on “The Ellen Show” on Monday, and did a segment in which she played Heads Up! (a variation on charades) along with “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn. Clinton last appeared on the show in September.
