The script for Jack Thorne’s upcoming play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will be published in book form this July, Scholastic announced Wednesday.
Since the play is only confirmed to be staged in London, many fans won’t have the opportunity to indulge in the next chapter of the “Harry Potter” saga — which is being touted as the eighth story in the wildly successful franchise — in its stage production format. On July 31 (Harry Potter’s birthday) the “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” story will be available to wider audiences in both book and ebook formats.
The “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” stage play will be a two-part epic set 19 years after J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” and will feature a storyline that revolves around an adult Harry and his son Albus. Jamie Parker is confirmed to star as Harry, alongside Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley, who will play Hermoine and Ron, respectively.
Thorne co-wrote the original “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” story alongside Rowling and John Tiffany. The stage play opens July 30.
