George Clooney has joined the masses in calling out Donald Trump.

In an interview with the Guardian, Clooney sat down and talked about his thoughts on the potential Republican nominee. “He’s just an opportunist,” the “Hail, Caesar!” actor said. “Now he’s a fascist; a xenophobic fascist.”

Clooney added that during election season it often isn’t the person with the best idea being heard but rather the person who is loudest.

“Let’s put things into perspective,” he said. “You know, the truth of the matter is, in election season, things go crazy, and the loudest voices are the furthest and most extreme. So you hear a massively stupid idea, like we’re going to ban Muslims from the country. Now, we’re not ever going to do that. It says in the Statue of Liberty, bring us your huddled masses. It’s not what’s going to happen.”

Clooney also talked about the potential Democratic nominees. The actor said he was a Hillary Clinton supporter and had plans to do a fundraiser for her. A similar fundraiser he put on in 2012 for Obama raised more than $12 million. He also spoke of his admiration for Bernie Sanders.

“I really love Bernie Sanders, and am really glad he is in the debate,” Clooney said. “He is forcing the conversation to things that never get talked about in U.S. politics: disparity between the rich and the poor, which is getting worse and worse every day.”

  1. Sue Cameron says:

Clooney claims that our country has to let in anyone who wants to enter “because it says so “in” the Statue of Liberty”. It’s a statue, not a statute. Talk about massively stupid.

  2. Ike Baikal says:

Mexico refuses to control their side of the border. The US, as a self-respecting country, must control its borders. This includes Canada. Canada holds up their half of the border responsibility. Mexico does not.

  3. Rena Moretti says:

Sad to see George Clooney, whom I like and used to think smart when it came to politics waste another opportunity to keep quiet and let us think he is smarter than he is.

We’ve been inundated with agonizing statements about “wage inequality” long before Bernie Sanders ran…

I’ll just point out that the important thing is not how many times more money George Clooney earns than me, but what I earn and if it’s fair and sufficient for my efforts.

  4. s says:

Why is someone who lives in the UK sticking his snout into a US election? It’s not like he has to live with the ramifications either way.

  5. Liam Redmond says:

Why is it always people who are rich and famous talking it upon themselves to talk about this disparity between the poor and rich. Like they even know what it means. Its easy for them to speak up sitting in their ivory towers. All Clooney is is a mouthpiece for socialist propaganda. Its probably no coincidence he gets kidnapped by a bunch of communists in Hail Caesar. Puts it right under our noses for all to see, thinking we’re stupid. Put him in a debate against people who know what they’re talking about and he’d be wiped out. Heck Donald Trump would wipe him out in a debate.

  6. lucylily says:

who is clooney talking to with his big words? the average person doesn’t know what xenophobe means. he is preaching to his choir not changing hearts and minds.

I want to know why he really married in such a hurry and as a public spectacle. What was he trying to hide or bury or get in front of?

  7. Me says:

“Xenophobic fascist” is a #georgesoros talking point. In fact, this whole press release is filled with them. #georgeclooney warmonger and #georgesoros puppet via the Enough Project housed at the Center for American Progress, which was designed by and for Hillary, enables fellow warmonger and Soros puppet #hillaryclinton. Know what else they have in common? Radical Islam. Obama has Jarrett. Hillary has Muslim Brotherhood relation #HumaAbedin. Clooney has defender of #Hamas and the #MuslimBrotherhood #amalclooney. Google and read “Meet the Clooneys” at Red Nation Rising to trace the history.

And while we’re at it…remember these two complain incessantly about hedge fund managers and “big money in politics”….except for themselves and their sugar daddy #georgesoros

  8. Linda kurtz says:

It’s so weird how these left wing Hollywood weirdos like Clooney want a prez that would tax the middle class into poverty, give freebies to every irresponsible non- working and not willing to work person in the country including immigrants, criminals, illegal aliens, etc, support partial birth abortion which is synonymous with murder while also supporting gun control which would result in the deaths of innocent unarmed people, support “women’s rights” which is a totally dead in the water issue still being harped on by that old has-been Hillary and label Christians as dumb uninformed losers. There r tens of thousands of people who r sick and tired of the old Hollywood establishment as much as they r of the political one. Clooney makes me sick! He’s just another out-dated actor who still thinks he can sway the public with those same old liberal views! Linda Kurtz

    • thesteelgeneral says:

Well, aside from the lies you unhingedly rant on about, considers this:
There’s more of us (millions) than of you (tens of thousands of sick people)

      • Rena Moretti says:

So according to you people are sick if they disagree with you??!!!

I certainly am tired of the Hollywood establishment, their predictable irks and their hypocrisy.

George Clooney, even though I often disagreed with him, was a oasis of thoughtfulness when he was younger, but sadly has now become part of the Angry Harangue party.

  9. Le Jacobs says:

George Clooney is such a jerk. Wait until his wife serve his head on a plate, it would be too late for little Georgie.

  10. Tracey says:

Clooney should be more concerned about his Muslim wife’s family’s anti Semitic views getting out in Hollywood. That really will be the end of his career.

  11. Cara says:

    Huh?
A Clinton supporter, who feels she does/was not addressing the important topics. Where’s the sense in that?

  12. GKN says:

Despite all the liberal haters always gathered round this water-cooler, I’m amused to see that Romney, Clooney, McCain and even leading Republicans swearing they’ll vote for Hillary if Trump wins the nom have changed Trump’s circus act since yesterday. He’s now claiming to be a ‘unifier’ and love everyone. Guess you xenophobes will have to find some other Hitler to drool over soon. Happy hunting.

    • Georgie Porrgie says:

We love everyone too. We especially love the illegal Mexicans and Muslims who stay out of our country. Thanks for your concern, schnookums.

  13. JD says:

George also said he was going to retire before he got old…newsflash, George…you ARE old and irrelevant. Go to your castle in Italy and stay there.
    #hollywoodoutoftouch

  14. JD says:

Enough with these clueless actors commenting on politics. The American public doesn’t care what they say anymore. Its laughable that people like Clooney and Affleck think their opinions matter.

  15. Alex says:

He should worry about making films people want to see, for the last few years he hasn’t done that.

    • Rena Moretti says:

      You stole my line. ;)

George is actually a really good actor, but unfortunately has an almost unerring taste for what audiences don’t want to see.

Oh well, we’ll always have ER.

  16. Lesley says:

Clooney is a talentless no nothing, so who cares.

    • jasperjava says:

It’s pretty funny that someone who doesn’t know how to spell the word “know” is accusing other of being a “no nothing”.

Trump supporters are ignorant fascist authoritarians.

  17. Bill says:

    And he is so correct!

  18. JK says:

Wow! I guess if George Clooney said it must me true!! Holly weird must be real nervous over Trump, they’re sending out one of their “top guns” to shoot the Donald down! Good luck!

  19. Lex says:

Oh brother, the liberal media & Hollywood better watch it. The backlash us coming.

    • Dunstan says:

Lex, first, you might want to actually proofread what you type here. Second, I don’t know what planet you’ve been on for the past few months but most media has been criticizing Trump during that time and will continue to do so.

I’m curious as to the nature of your threat; what “backlash” and from whom? If you’re trying to say some kind of boycott against “Hollywood” is going to happen, I hate to clue you in but that never works and never will work. If you’re threatening violence, that’s illegal and will be reported.

But I guess you’re in favor of the conservative media; lunatics like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and the other twisted minds populating that world.

Lex, you’ve got your head so far up your behind, all you can see is Fox News.

      • Rena Moretti says:

There is a “boycott” of sorts that is evidenced by the awful ratings of most new TV shows, but it has little to do with politics.

Bad shows aren’t watched (and I could go into movies but then we’d have to discussed the imaginary numbers know as B.O. estimates).

Politics is a small part of it, however, as I, for instance, stopped watching Girl Meets World when it became an instrument of political propaganda instead of a sweet kid’s show.

Because of the groupthink in Hollywood (anyone who disagrees feels compelled to be quiet or else) politicizing of TV shows has become more obvious and thus more repellent.

It’s only a small part of the problem, but it is part of it.

      • sergeant Dukes says:

Speaking of heads up arses, are you such a dense idiot that you assume everyone who doesn’t agree with you is automatically an oh-so-evil republican? By the way, auntie, true conservatives dont actually watch news…get with this century dear

      • JD says:

Typical “liberal” response to people not sharing their opinion.

      • LOL says:

Dunstan, sweety, pop a Prozac and sit your patootie on down. Thanks.
