With “The X-Files” returning to television in less than one month, Fox has released a behind-the-scenes teaser video with more than 20 minutes of footage and interviews to bring fans into the new year.
“‘The X-Files’ is really back as a result of its fans,” creator Chris Carter says in the new video. “We wouldn’t be coming back without them.”
Along with Carter, stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson talk about reprising their roles and re-opening the franchise. New additions to the cast, including Joel McHale, are also featured in the video.
“On one hand, it feels like no time has passed and that we just kind of picked up where we left off,” Anderson says before joking about the challenge of running on-set again.
At the end of the teaser, in footage from the six-part series, Mulder (Duchovny) asks Scully (Anderson), “Are you ready for this?” to which she replies: “I don’t know there’s a choice.”
“The X-Files” debuts with a special two-night event beginning Jan. 24 and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m.
