PRIMETIME CABLE REPORT: Discovery Channel claimed Wednesday’s top three programs in Nielsen’s adults 18-49 rankings with its Shark Week programming of Super Predator (1.51 rating in 18-49, 3.355 million viewers overall), Ninja Sharks (1.44 rating in 18-49, 3.042 million viewers overall) and Bride of Jaws (1.00 rating in 18-49, 2.305 million viewers overall for an encore telecast) … Super Predator is Shark Week’s most-watched program to date, and is tied in the demo with Sunday’s opening-night extravaganza Monster Mako.

USA’s Mr. Robot continued to look good in its third week, rising to a best-yet 0.59 rating in adults 18-49 (up 7% from last week) even as its overall audience declined (1.602 million). It seems to be meshing well with lead-in Suits (0.62 rating in 18-49), giving USA the night’s top two scripted cable originals in the demo.

BET’s The Game was on the low side (0.60 rating in 18-49) but was the top cable original comedy in the demo.  …  ABC Family’s Baby Daddy held steady (0.36 in 18-49), again building on its lead-in from Melissa and Joey (0.32); the former is building on the latter by even more in adults 18-34 (0.42 vs. 0.31). … Repeats of The Big Bang Theory (TBS) averaged a strong 0.81 rating in 18-49 about 2.5 million total viewers from 9 to 11.

A&E’s Duck Dynasty remained the top non-scripted series in both 18-49 (0.75 rating), its lowest score in three summer airings, and total viewers (2.167 million, up slightly from last week). … MTV’s Catfish was back in originals (0.56 rating in 18-49, 1.021 million total viewers), standing as cable’s top-rated original series of the night in adults 18-34 (0.78 rating).

Fox News Channel easily won the cable news race, with The O’Reilly Factor drawing both its largest adults 25-54 audience (514,000) and its largest overall audience (2.765 million) of the summer. Anderson Cooper‘s interview with Donald Trump was a distant second at 8 p.m. (186,000 adults 25-54 and 645,000 total viewers) but these were about 20% above the show’s Monday-Tuesday averages of this week and helped CNN to a solid second-place demo finish.
