Comedy Central isn’t letting that “The Daily Show” anchor seat stay cold for too long.
A little over a week after we said #JonVoyage to Jon Stewart, Comedy Central teases the premiere of new host Trevor Noah by saying that the “same chair” will soon have a “different ass.”
This is the first teaser of Noah as “Daily Show’s new host since Stewart’s reign ended Aug. 6. The 30-second clip shows a confident Noah walking to the anchor desk in slow motion to the dramatic tune of “Power” by Kanye West.
Noah’s first stint as the host of “The Daily Show” will air on Sept. 28. During his panel at Comedy Central’s Television Critics Association press day in July, he said that the show will continue to focus on current events, politics and other relevant topics, but the perspective will shift.
“In terms of content on the show, we’re still dealing with the same issues. Issues are not really changing in America and the world. It’s just a different angle. My angle,” he said, adding, “I am a 31-year-old, half-black, half-white South African who’s lived in a America for a few years on and off … Jon would comment on it from a very different place than I would because I’m more of an outsider to that world than he is.”
