Try not to lose your heads, “Sleepy Hollow” fans — Variety has learned that Orlando Jones (who plays fan-favorite character Frank Irving) will not be returning to the Fox show for its upcoming third season.

Jones isn’t the only one exiting the series after season two — showrunner Mark Goffman departed the supernatural drama ahead of its season three renewal and will be replaced by Clifton Campbell (“The Glades”).

“Sleepy Hollow” was co-created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman. It stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane and Nicole Beharie as Abbie Mills as two unlikely allies who must band together to prevent the apocalypse. Kurtzman, Orci, Wiseman, Campbell and Heather Kadin serve as executive producers on the new season.

Fox had no comment.

    frank :-(

  2. Gail says:

OMG why are they getting rid of all interesting characters? This should be an eye opener of why they’re ratings are off.

  3. Big Daddy D says:

It always cracked me up that Orlando started on …MAD TV, of all shows! If he’s not coming back, that’s a shame. He’s very versatile ..but they’ve lost quite a few characters on the show. Katia Winter..the venerable John Noble-FRINGE!!..John Cho-MILF! MILF!..Clancy Brown..the show has a horrible recidivism rate.

This is sketchy. No source cited? Who told Variety this news if it wasn’t Jones or Fox?????? We know Jones never hides from the truth so who told this news to Variety??? Is Cinco de Mayo the new April Fool’s Day?

  5. Jacques Strappe says:

Probably wise to abandon a sinking ship before it is fully submerged

  6. 99shake@gmail.com says:

Orlando Jones deserves so much better than Sleepy Hollow has to offer. LBR, the show’s S2 is a big failure despite lined up with talents like Orlando, Nicole, Lyndie who played characters with great stories and so much more depth to develop. Frank Irving, Abbie and Jenny were the reasons to keep watching and now there is one less reason to hold on. Show? what show? S2 is boring as hell.

  7. Choc says:

Figures. They screwed him, Nicole (Abbie), Lyndie (Jenny), and even Sakina (Sher. Reyes) over in s2 because the show thought everyone who wasn’t a Crane or Hawley wasn’t important and thought the audience would too. And he happened to be more vocal about it than the others, agreeing with the audience on Twitter and Tumblr about the mistreatment of their characters. That said, if it was his own personal choice to leave I completely understand why. And lord forbid the show tries to bring back Henry and Katrina from the dead after this.

  8. Heidi says:

They really misused his character. He was capable of so much more and they put him on the back burner. I’ll really miss him. Loved Irving.

    • Joe Posner says:

I’ve been following Orlando Jones’ career since his appearance in the not-so-good “Time Machine” re-make.

His work in “Sleepy Hollow” was his best acting ever.

I look forward to his future projects.

  9. Susannah says:

I’m disappointed because Irving was my favorite character and Orlando my favorite actor on the show. Sleepy Hollow won’t be the same without him and watching episodes without Orlando tweeting just won’t be as much fun. I’ll be sure to check out whatever he does in the future, good luck to him.

  10. Sleepy Hollow made me drowsy and I stopped watching the nightmare that was Katrina says:

Orlando will, hopefully, move on to successful ventures. He is a versatile actor and very good at what he does. Sleepy Hollow may be “damaged goods” after its unfortunate last season. Maybe Jones will be better of sailing for other shores.
