FX Productions has closed an overall production deal with Simon Rich, the creator, showrunner and exec producer of FXX’s freshman comedy “Man Seeking Woman,” which was renewed for a second season.

Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, presidents of original programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, made the announcement Wednesday.

Under the two-year pact, Rich will develop new projects for FX Productions with his Allagash Industries banner.

“Simon is one of the brightest and most innovative talents in television today,” said Schrier. “With ‘Man Seeking Woman,’ he took the age-old story of looking for love and turned it on its head. FX is all about that kind of creative risk-taking, and we jumped at the opportunity to develop future projects with him.”

“Man Seeking Woman” is based on Rich’s book of short stories “The Last Girlfriend on Earth.” He is the author of four short-story collections and two novels.

Rich commented: “I’m so grateful to FX for believing in Allagash Industries. They’ve given us more creative freedom than I ever dreamed was possible. I’m determined to develop shows with them that are honest, original and gross. I can’t wait to get started.”

Where do they find such great, creative minds? Well, they’re the rich and connected offspring of their rich and connected parents.

Yeah… One more like that. I know, who would have thunk?

Oh, and note how NONE of the articles by the Hollywood press mentions whose son he is (and how rich and connected, especially connected!)
