CW has given a series order to “Significant Mother,” a half-hour comedy first developed for digital channel CW Seed.

The story follows Portland restaurateur Nate (Josh Zuckerman), whose world is turned upside down when he comes back from a business trip to find out that his best friend and roommate, Jimmy, is now dating his newly singly mother (Krista Allen). The attempts by Nate’s dad (Jonathan Silverman) to woo back his mom are not helping the situation. Needless to say, all this pressure severely handicaps Nate’s own dating life. Emma Fitzpatrick and Jay Ali also star.

“Significant Mother” hails from Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios. It was created by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith, who are exec producing along with Tripp Reed and Les Morgenstein.

CW plans to air the comedy this summer.

I live in Portland and we just got word that the show will be shooting in our area for a few hours on Monday. Last August, a couple of scenes of “Grimm” were shot in the area.
