AMC has released the first trailer for upcoming series “Preacher,” which got a substantial platform by debuting during Sunday’s episode of “The Walking Dead.”
Like “Walking Dead,” “Preacher” is also an adaptation of a comic book series; this one created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint. Created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and “Breaking Bad’s” Sam Catlin, it stars Dominic Cooper as bad boy-turned lackluster small-time preacher Jesse Custer. The show also stars Joe Gilgun as Cassidy, an Irish vampire hiding out in town, and Ruth Negga as Tulip O’Hare, Jesse’s trouble-seeking ex.
The 10-episode first season of “Preacher” is set to premiere in mid-2016. Exec producers are Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver through their Point Grey banner, along with Neal Moritz, Vivian Cannon and Ori Marmur for Original Film. Catlin is also exec producing and serves as showrunner. Other exec producers are Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Dillon are co-exec producers. The series comes via Sony Pictures Television and AMC Studios.
