Starz has released new art for the back half of “Outlander’s” freshman season, with two posters that echo the imagery of the show’s original marketing materials, this time tinged with a more dangerous tone.
The darker art for the remaining eight episodes shows heroine Claire (Caitriona Balfe) pointing a dagger at the sadistic Redcoat “Black Jack” Randall (Tobias Menzies), the ancestor of her first husband, Frank Randall (also played by Menzies), while new husband Jamie (Sam Heughan) stands behind her, poised to attack.
In the original art, Claire is shown reaching back to Frank in the future (1945) while Jamie beckons to her from the past (1743). Another poster shows Randall wielding a sword against Claire and Jaime from their perspective. The key art was shot on location in the Scottish highlands by photographer Jason Bell with the three actors in the exact same location where the original key art was shot.
“Outlander” is a sci-fi romance drama adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s novels and exec produced by Ronald D. Moore (“Battlestar Galactica”). The story follows a WWII combat nurse who falls back in time to 1743 and must reconcile her modern mindset with the 18th century world and the temptations and dangers it offers.
The remaining eight episodes of season one return to Starz beginning April 4 at 9 p.m.
