Kaplan succeeds Jordan Levin, who served four years as the elected head of the industry org that hosts an annual January programming conference in Miami.
“Andy’s extensive knowledge of the domestic and international TV and burgeoning VOD and subscription VOD markets, as well as the multi-platform online entertainment network space, will provide NATPE with an enormously valuable perspective as we further expand our global reach,” said NATPE president-CEO Rod Perth. “His vast expertise in Latin America, Asia and India further strengthens our relationships with content creators from those important regions.”
Kaplan’s appointment comes as NATPE is preparing for a leadership transition, with Perth set to step down after the 2016 conference. The org recently tapped Reed Midem conference vet JP Bommel as chief operating officer.
Kaplan is a longtime NATPE board member and member of its executive committee. Levin, who recently joined the NFL as senior VP and chief content officer, will remain on the exec committee.
“With Rod’s dedication to enhancing content creation and distribution across the entire television and digital ecosystem at our annual global markets and conferences, NATPE is well positioned for the future,” Kaplan said. “I also deeply appreciate the commitment Jordan has made to NATPE.”
