“We are the sexual revolution.”
The third season of the Showtime drama, which stars Michael Sheen and Caplan as sex researchers Masters and Johnson, is set in 1965 — just as sexual liberation is heating up. It’s also the year before the duo published their groundbreaking research text, “Human Sexual Response.”
But, as the clip suggests, Masters and Johnson had a rough road ahead before their book was to be taken seriously — even if they might have patched up their personal relationship since last season’s finale.
“Masters of Sex” was developed for television by Michelle Ashford. She exec produces along with Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Amy Lippman, Dave Flebotte and Judith Verno. Sheen, Tammy Rosen and Thomas Maier serve as producers. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Season three premieres at 10 p.m. on July 12.
