‘Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD’ Spinoff in Early Development

'Agents of SHIELD' Spinoff: Marvel Entertainment

Ready for even more Marvel?

Marvel Entertainment is developing a spinoff series for ABC’s “Agents of SHIELD,” Variety has confirmed.

The project is in the very early stages of development and does not have a proposed premiere date yet, nor plans for specific characters to lead the potential show, Variety has learned. “SHIELD’s” exec producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski are developing the series.

First reported by Entertainment Weekly, the new show would not be introduced as a planted spinoff during “Agents of SHIELD,” but upcoming storylines in the current series will be utilized to set up the spinoff, if it ends up being greenlit, so the theme should be clear by the end of the “Agents” season.

“Agents of SHIELD,” currently in its second season, has not yet been renewed by ABC.

Marvel has two properties on ABC this season: “SHIELD” and “Agent Carter,” which premiered this January.

As for other superhero spinoffs, DC Comics is reportedly developing an “Arrow” and “Flash” spinoff over at The CW, which is being eyed for the 2016-17 TV season.

Marvel and ABC declined to comment on the “SHIELD” spinoff.

  1. Heidi says:

I want Agent Carter. Love Hayley Atwell. That’s what I want a spin-off of.

  2. Ted says:

The show struggles to pull a 2 rating and there’s a spinoff? Maybe AOS should be fixed before they move on to another show. ABC should hire one of the Arrow or Flash producers to get AOS right.
AOS is laughable and unwatchable. That is all

    • Pabs says:

Arrow & Flash are more like CW teen dramas than an actual substantial Television series. AoS actually has a life of its own, with multi-diverse characters ALL with their own pasts and futures. That is complex writing, it’s sad to see others who simply watch for action or because they think Captain America will show up. It has to do with the people and their character arcs. AoS as well as created a whole Universe weaved in with the Marvel Films that alone is incredible.

I just hope they bring back AoS & especially Agent Carter.

    • Russ says:

You sound like somebody who hasn’t even watched Agents of SHIELD since pre-Winter Soldier, which would mean you know nothing about the show.

    • therealeverton says:

The show works very well as it is. I’m waiting go see what this spin off is.

    • Patrick Gregory says:

There is nothing wrong with Marvel’s Agents of Shield except for the idiot fanboys who expect it to be the avengers every night. They were very clear in what the show was (and wasn’t) upfront. Most likely is a spinoff that provides the fanboys with what they want… superheros (i.e. Marvel’s Inhumans).

    • rodrick says:

Maybe it could be sky on the spinoff showing her and other in humans learning there powers and making a team with lincoln
