Fox has picked up Will Forte’s comedy “The Last Man on Earth” for a second season.

“We knew we had something special with ‘The Last Man on Earth.’ It’s one of those rare shows that continues to add depth and dimension to its unique premise, week after week,” said David Madden, Fox Broadcasting Company’s entertainment president. “We are so thrilled that this incredibly bold, original and inventive series has been embraced by both fans and critics, and we cannot wait to see where the creative genius and inspired vision of Will, Phil (Lord) and Chris (Miller) take us in season two.”

Since its hourlong premiere on March 1, original episodes of “The Last Man on Earth” have averaged a 1.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.4 million viewers overall in live plus same-day averages. In Live +3, it spikes on average to a 2.7 in the demo and 6.6 million total viewers.

“The Last Man on Earth,” which is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, is created and written by Forte and exec produced by Forte, Lord, Miller and Seth Cohen.

Loved last season. Wish they hadn’t killed Phil though :-(
Last Sunday’s episode was kind of a drag but I am hooked….. :-)

The last man on earth is the best

  3. Dawn Murphy says:

I love this show! Thank you FOX for renewing it. Each episode is better than the one before and hilarious!!

    • Rena Moretti says:

The quality must be why the ratings are so bad. At least FOX finally got rid of Mindy Flops… Of course it wouldn’t have had to get rid of it had it not renewed it like it just did Last Man…

What a horrible waste of good money… :(

  4. occultology says:

This is a very well crafted and cleverly written show, which zigs and zags in all kinds of inventive and crazy directions. Thank you, President Forte, for this unique tv gem.

  5. Natalie says:

  6. Eric says:

  7. Sandy Muller says:

It is unique. Glad a truly original show is being embraced. Good job Will!

    • Rena Moretti says:

I wanted to say it was uniquely low-rated, but it’s not true. FOX is littered with flops like Last Man on Earth.

Why they fired Kevin Reilly if it was to renew more flops, I’ll never understand.
