“Community” star Joel McHale has graduated from comedy to drama.

He’s signed on for a guest starring role on Fox’s upcoming limited series “The X-Files,” Variety has confirmed.

McHale will play Tad O’Malley, a conservative news anchor who becomes an unlikely ally for Fox Mulder (David Duchovny).

The new series, which will be exec produced by Chris Carter, reunites original cast members Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and is set for an early 2016 premiere. It hails from 20th Century Fox TV.

McHale is repped by WME.
